RavelBerry was born with one purpose — to revive the dying art of crochet in India and give dignity, fair earning, and recognition to the women who have preserved this craft for generations.

⭐ Our Roots

I grew up in a small rural village on the riverbanks of Andhra Pradesh.
Life was simple, but the women around me carried incredible strength.

From my childhood, I watched:

  • my mother,

  • my grandmother,

  • and the women in our street

sit together and crochet for hours — creating beauty out of thread.

For them, crochet was their only livelihood.
Because of social restrictions, they couldn’t go outside for work.
Yet despite weeks and months of effort, they were paid only a tiny fraction of what their art was worth.

Traditional intermediaries offered extremely low compensation,
while large exporters made crores by selling their handcrafted pieces overseas.

The hands that created the art were unfairly compensated,
and the system survived on their silence.

⭐ The Decline of a Beautiful Art

As years passed, things changed.

Government support programs reduced the need for home-based income.
Education opened new career paths for younger women.
Slowly, crochet — once the pride of our village — started to disappear.

At the same time, Indian customers were flooded with:

  • substandard crochet products

  • cheap yarn

  • harsh chemical colors

  • poor finishing

This damaged trust and pushed authentic crochet further into the shadows.

The art was fading.
But the spark in my heart never dimmed.

I always believed crochet deserved respect, fairness, and a second life.

After years of planning, hesitation, and setbacks, RavelBerry finally came alive —
with a promise to uplift the craft and the women behind it.

We decided to rebuild the system differently:

✔ Replace intermediaries with women coordinators

✔ Develop modern, refined prototypes and designs

✔ Maintain complete transparency and dignity
